Gender Inequality : still a pending and pressing issue in the modern world

"We live in a democratic country where it is said that everyone is treated equally.  Article 15 of the Indian constitution states that no person shall be discriminated on the basis of religion, race, caste, sex or place of birth. Then why even in this 21st century women are still discriminated just because they are females. Is being women a crime? Answer to this question would be a big 'NO' but still, starting from the childhood to their old age women are considered lesser and weaker than man in some or the other aspect of their life and society. Female infanticide is still in practice in this modern society, where everything is modern except the mentality of the people living in this society. We cannot blame the old generation for this when even the new generation is caught in the trap.

Mother is the one who give birth to a baby, that pain is unbearable and more than any other pain in this whole world then how can anyone consider her to be weak? She is always considered better to take care of her home rather than going out and do some other job. Why we don't ever expect a man to take care of his family as a female does? Why we never ask a men to stay at home as househusband and a women to go out and work? Nobody actually had answer to these questions because this is the tradition which we are following since decades and it has a long way to go.

The fact cannot be denied that today even women are working and they have equal say in the decision making but again when it comes to taking care of family a women is the one who always keep her dreams aside. If women has equal say in decision making than she must have a say to take decisions for herself inspite of always thinking about her family, she always keeps her family on first priority but still she is not even given respect in her own house by her husband, in - laws and even children.

Undoubtedly, there might be many males who might have stood up for a female in need but they do not ever look inside their own house that even they are also among those people who are creating a difference between the two gender. In today's era every guy wants to enjoy his live with his friends or girlfriend but if his own sister wants to go out and enjoy then she is not allowed. why? Security and restriction are two different aspects. People actually need to understand that every female in this world is someone's sister, daughter, wife or mother.

Article 19 of the Indian constitution has given 6 freedoms to an individual. A man has freedom to go anywhere at anytime, he has freedom to talk to anybody, wear anything, indulge in any argument, have late night parties, fun, outings, higher education and job in some big city but these rights are actually not given to a female just because she is a female. Now if I ask someone why our society does not allow a girl to go out for higher studies or late night parties, the answer would surely be related to their security and what is the reason behind their insecurity? Obviously few men or I should say many men and even mentality plays a big role here.

Keeping a girl away from everything is not actually safety, its torture. Nobody has right to take decision for the life of other, not even a girl. If a female wear short clothes or stripped top then people judge her and sometimes even does body shaming. Who are you to judge anyone? In this so called protective society a female do not actually have any right of her own. She cannot live by her own, cannot wear clothes of her own choice, is not even allowed to take her own decisions and people call it security and protection.

Government has made various laws to protect females but sometimes a female does not file complaint or do not even tell her family out of fear that they will impose more restrictions on her. This is what people call security in which a girl has fear even in sharing her concerns or problems with her family and sometimes even if she tell her family about it then they are the one who stops her from filing a complaint rather then supporting her out of their respect in society and modesty of a girl. After this even if a girl manages to file a complaint then our system is slow to an extend that it sometimes takes around a year just to complete the investigation and till then nobody even care about Justice and it is rightly said 'Justice delayed is justice denied'.

Being an author I know that the society has changed and not every girl in this society face all these problems but yes every girl in this society faces some or the other issues which amounts to discrimination in her own family. As it is said 'home is the first school' then start treating both girl and boy equal and instead of always teaching a girl and imposing restrictions on her, start teaching a boy to respect and help the one who deserves it.

So, here I have talked about the root cause of this problem which arises from a family. My words might be blunt but true!!
